The Dawning of a New Age of Music
“Peace to everything that ever is, ever will be.” – Benjamin Dara
There is a soul in this music. The lyrics, rhythms, and tempos cross the boundaries of traditional genres in a way that brings out the humanity in people.
It’s why Benjamin Dara formed DARA with a higher purpose: take people on a journey that connects people on a different level beyond the songs. It drives Ben to create a distinctive style of world rock music that spreads the messages of peace and love.
Born in 1987, founder Benjamin Dara felt the pull of music through the Persian influences on his father’s side with his uncle, a violin and sitar virtuoso who played for the Shah of Iran. After the early guidance of his mother’s piano playing, he picked up his first guitar at age 11 and a passion flamed to life. Ben’s life journey took him through traditional school and college, but the passion to change the world one note at a time never died. In 2013 after 11 years in the music industry, Ben released his debut album, “Single Flame,” an award-winning first endeavor.
A year later, born from the stars, centered in the Earth, DARA (dar-uh) emerged. Built with talented musicians who share Ben’s vision, DARA maintains a longevity of excellence in everything they do. As their musical movement is crafted by using eclectic instruments, psychedelic sounds, and varying vocals.
“I really wanted to start a band with a higher purpose than just rock and roll. We’re here to do more than just music. I wanted to create a dawning of a new era of music as an art form.” — Ben
The supernova of this new age flashed in August 2015 with the release of “The Red Tiger Nebula,” the band’s first full-length album. From the pulsing thrums “Ants on the Hill” to the wafting melodies of “Clouds,” listeners are taken on a journey they will never forget. Music experts are taking notice:

The 12 songs on “The Red Tiger Nebula” convey the power and beauty of a life lived for the moment – with love at its core. And this love is never more evident when DARA plays for live audiences. Ben and his mates feed off the energy of the people who sing and sway to Ben’s mesmerizing, 3½-octave storytelling. For DARA, the collective communion of souls at a concert brings people together.
“There is a musicality to our work that draws in our fans. They love the vibes, the messages, and the quality of the music. They can be part of it, and it is growing. Ultimately, that’s what music is all about.” — Ben
Like a true nebula, DARA’s music floats and shines as it coalesces in listeners’ ears. The metaphorical comparison stops there as you experience an intensity and vibrancy of sound architecture not found in the vacuum of space. The gravitational pull of Ben’s guitar riffs and powerful vocals bring listeners together into a single, harmonious community that is swept away on a crazy, unbelievable journey.
Today, DARA is continuing its evolution by adding theatrical elements to its live shows – in the form of a giant papier mâché Chinese dragon to connect concert goers both musically and viscerally with the sounds of TRTN. DARA’s music aims to provide fans with experiences like that of hearing Edgar Allan Poe recite “The Raven.”
“We want people to leave our shows with the same feeling someone would have hearing Poe recite his work in front of them. As if it was unearthly and an experience they could only hope for.” – Ben
For Ben and DARA, it is all about connection.
“We’re here to do more than just music. DARA is taking you on an inner journey that explores the inner and outer most edges of what it is to exist as a person in our universe.” — Ben
